This was a complete reimagining of the ground floor of a well-lived-in family home that presented challenges of age, such as uneven walls and floors. The new design transforms the space, linking kitchen and living areas, with large windows opening out to the timber deck and rear garden. The hardwood flooring throughout is both beautiful and practical, able to withstand the joyful commotion of everyday family life, including pets.

Within the open plan, a feature limestone fireplace with a solid oak mantel creates a warm and central gathering spot. Another highlight is the custom wine storage with walnut-toned timber shelving and soft integrated lighting. Its refined style complements the overall Shaker aesthetic, which carries through to the kitchen, where a premium onyx countertop incorporates a clever timber butcher’s block to ensure a seamless working space. High ceilings with decorative cornices preserve the home’s traditional charm, while thoughtfully placed skylights now bring natural light into its heart. The end result is a beautifully refreshed living space, perfectly suited to the rhythm of modern family life
